People met in the Ladybird Inn. Games were played. Beer was drunk. Dice were rolled. Huskies raced. Cards were drawn. Astronauts landed on mars. Spaceships battled. Actually I don't think there were any dice. It's all a bit hazy.
There were huskies though, pulling sledges along snowy trails because we played Snow Tails. A straightforward racing game - play cards on your huskies for speed or on your brakes to slow down. Veering left and right is done by playing higher cards on the husky on one side than the other. Hitting obstacles does you damage and reduces your hand limit: now you are trying to control your careering sled with only four cards and then three and then two and then only one - which is difficult, as I discovered after my early lead transformed into my huskies head-butting an ice wall* for three turns and then left me trying to navigate the remainder of the course with only one card. Aaron sped past to take first place with Colin not far behind. I was left with a miserable third; however I considered completing the course rather than being destroyed as a minor victory.
Star Realms was played on the other table between Jon and David; it was an epic contest and David came out a 2-1 winner.
Then we all joined together for a five-way battle over Mars in Mission: Red Planet. This game resulted in final scores as follows:
Gamer of the Week has to be presented to Aaron for excellent skills at both herding huskies and colonising mars.
*No huskies were harmed during the course of the evening.
