Make a loop
And then a line
That's the way
to make a 9!
So says the number printing poem anyways...I prefer to gather together a few friends to play some games at the Hop Pole myself. 4 of us set about playing Alien Frontiers, with the Factions expansion added, while the remaining 5 took Yedo for another spin. Neil the elder and Neil the younger learned the game for the first time and the younger showed us how it's done, gaining an impressive and speedy victory. While the rest of us were contentedly building our score with slow accumulation, Neil saw his chance and seized it with both dice.
Meanwhile, Peter M continued his 100% record in Yedo with an outrageous 3 out of 3 conversion rate at BBG. Apparently Princess insists he's getting a little closer each time he plays, but I say that 25 winning points to 20 is still a kicking.
After Alien Frontiers finished abruptly, I taught my fellow gamers the wonderfully unpredictable (Aaron says 'random' but be assured, it's anything but) Gravwell. All players attempt to be the first to reach the warpgate, but the only source of gravity is other ships. Cue hilarity when each player players their card face down and then finds themselves sailing ever further away from the end point. After the maximum 6 rounds we still had no outright winner and so valiantly played on into round 7, Neil the younger again claiming victory.
A round of Coup followed, this time Colin surviving to the end in the face of constant suspicion, which was perfect practice for the 8-player duo of The Resistance: Avalon that was to follow with 4 of the Yedo players joining the fun (Chris noticeably left; of the whole group possibly the coolest towards games of Avalon). Evil won in both rounds: Bean counter, Aaron and Neil the elder won the first, Colin, Princess and I won the second.
And finally, Bang! the dice game rounded off the evening.
