This week's blog is brought to you by Neil Curtis.
The first game of the evening was Cash 'n Guns. Peter H proved himself the most godfather like with a final tally of 206K. Following the arrival of Jon we split into two groups. The first group was Jon and Peter M who launched into an epic duel of Epic. Epic is a recent kickstarter that seems to have divided opinions. Peter M and Jon certainly seemed to enjoy the challenge of duelling one another in this Magic-lite game playing a total of nine games.
The second group played Kingsburg. In this easy-to-learn game players roll dice and in turn allocate them to the board gaining the favour of various advisors. These advisors grant combinations of resources, victory points, and military power. The resources are then used to build buildings each of which grant various abilities or powers: modifying dice, bonuses to military and victory points. At the end of each year an enemy attacks and either you have enough military to defeat it and gain a bonus or you suffer damage by losing buildings. After five years victory points are totalled to determine the winner. Peter H managed to succeed with a very narrow victory.
*Editor's note: A win is a win is a win. It has only been described as "very narrow" because Neil came second.
And finally as the Epic duelling continued on the other table a game of 6 Nimmt! was played. Again Peter H was the winner though tied with David which leaves me with the dubious honour of awarding Gamer of the Week to Peter H for victories in Cash and Guns, Kingsburg and 6 Nimmt!.
*Editor's note: There is nothing dubious or honourable about awarding me with Gamer of the Week: just deserved.
