Searching through our collective bags for suitable 6 player games our options were somewhat limited, so we broke out the classic ice-breaker for new players: Family Business. What better way to welcome new people to the group than by slaughtering their posse of ne'er-do-wells. And what better way for a newbie to introduce themselves; the second win of the night went to Sarah who was the last woman standing in this bloody and chaotic card game. Aaron came second which I guess was no consolation. Peter M lost his last gangster "turning his coat" and crashed out early; not to worry though as this game excels in quick and brutal endings. Andy, Neil and I were not far behind in getting eliminated. In fact, in one rotation of the players around the table we had all been wiped out, apart from Sarah obviously who successfully protected her last hoodlum.
And finally, in the manner of stupid 6 player games we finished off with 6 nimmt! In the interests of getting Andy to his train on time, the game was called to a halt technically 1 point early as Sarah had only reached 65, not the coveted 66 needed to end the game (and lose). Neil was making a charge for 6th place but was the main benefactor of the early finish, closing just 3 points behind with a record-breaking 43 points earned in the last round. Peter M once again proved his skill by edging me out for victory with an excellent 18 points.

My gamer of the week has to go to newcomer Andy Howman for his amazing win in Mission: Red Planet. In a new category, Sarah insisted that she won 'Female player of the week'. I'm all for equality but....
